Maggie Huey, MS, RD, LD

About Me:

Welcome! My name is Maggie Huey, owner and founder of Pep Talk Nutrition LLC. I am ecstatic to have you here. As a Registered Dietitian, I have developed an expertise in pediatric weight management and have developed a passion for helping children, parents, young adults, and entire families find peace with food. During the first 5 years of my career I gained experience in areas ranging from metabolic disease, gastrointestinal diseases, sleep disorders, growth concerns, sensory processing disorders, various interventions for individuals with global delays, and sports nutrition. I hope to translate this experience into personalized one-on-one counseling and group classes in order to serve the Greater Cincinnati community and beyond.

Core Values:

I believe in inclusion over exclusion. Food is fuel for our body which means calories are energy and should not be viewed as the enemy. Focusing on giving your body what it needs, rather than what to avoid, can completely reform your relationship with food. Every individual lives in a unique body that differs from their peers, friends, and even family members. And every individual’s nutrition and lifestyle plan needs to be just as unique. As we work together I will always honor that you are the expert on your body, while I serve as the expert on food and nutrition sciences. Together, we can work to find the plan most suitable for you. Whether your goal be weight loss, blood glucose control, muscle mass accumulation, or improved energy, I am confident we can develop an effective partnership through nutrition counseling.

Beyond the Profession:

In addition to a Registered Dietitian and small business owner, I am also a wife, daughter, sister, and fur mom. Throughout the week, when not with Pep Talk, I may be found working the desk or joining a class at Club Pilates. Much of my free time outside of work is spent traveling to visit family in Tennessee and Florida. When I do have free time in Cincinnati, I can often be found working on home improvement projects. I also love exploring local areas to eat, drink, and hike with my husband Jake and our hound dogs, Phoebe and Franklin. After a day spent hiking, snowboarding, or crafting, I love curling up with our kitty Ferguson or relaxing to an audio book on the porch with the pups.

Notable Accomplishments:

  • Served as President of the Greater Cincinnati Dietetic Association

  • Awarded Young Dietitian of the Year Award through the Ohio Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

  • Received Certificate of Training in Pediatric and Adult Weight Management

Jo Bierman, RD, LD

About Me:

Hey there! My name is Jo Bierman. My dietetic practice has brought me all around the country the past 5 years--from Ohio to Washington to South Carolina. I started my career at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2018, where I helped families understand how to prepare easy and inexpensive meals. (This is also where I met Maggie and Sydney!) After moving to Seattle in 2021, I joined the Pediatric Specialty Clinic at Swedish Medical Center and worked alongside GI doctors to educate patients on food allergies, Celiac disease, Irritable Bowel Disease, and poor growth. I joined the Medical University of South Carolina’s Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic in Charleston in 2023, where I helped children and their families understand the important role nutrition plays in diabetes management. In addition to these specialty areas, I have always worked with infants and children who are struggling with weight gain, picky eating, and weight management.

Core Values:

Talking about diet is personal, and changing eating habits can feel overwhelming. I want every single person I work with to feel confident in their food choices, whether for themselves or their children.

Beyond the Profession:

I have never been good at sitting still, unless there is a book in my hand. I am currently completing a 200-hour yoga teacher training, and I also work at a local spin studio. I love hiking, snowboarding, paddle boarding, and creating vegetarian recipes. But you’ll most likely find me chasing around my miniature Australian shepherd puppy, Sebastian or soaking up some sun with a good book and my cat, Sally.

Notable Accomplishments:

  • Received Certificate of Training in Pediatric and Adult Weight Management

  • Spearheaded ongoing successful formation of patient specific food bank at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center

Sydney Huesman, MS, RD, LD

About Me:

Hi! My name is Sydney Huesman and I am a registered dietitian with a passion for helping people improve their relationship with food. I have over 5 years of dietetic experience, focusing on general pediatric nutrition, renal nutrition, type 1 and 2 diabetes management, weight management, metabolic disease, gut function, and performance nutrition. I look forward to using my expertise to help you achieve your nutrition and lifestyle goals.

Core Values:

It is my firm belief that “all foods fit”. Many people put so much pressure on themselves to be perfect in multiple aspects of their lives, including the food they eat. My hope is that I can help you make peace with food, while still working towards your healthiest self, inside and out. Food can (and should) be fun!

Beyond the Profession:

Outside of my work as a registered dietitian, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors. If I am not immersed in my latest novel, I am probably putting a nutritious spin on an old family recipe,  sipping on a latte from a local coffee shop, or hiking a local trail with my husband and our rescue pup, Scout.

  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

  • Published author in the Journal of Pediatric Urology

  • Graduate Summa Cum Laude from University of Cincinnati with a Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences - 2023
